"I SHOT AN ARROW IN THE AIR..........."

Over a year now since I signed off on this blog. But recently I have been missing the involvement of composing posts. There now seems to be a backlash against the "slick social media" of Facebook and Twitter so perhaps more leisured, thinking people will turn to blogs once more.

An encouraging sign was that one blogger has returned (welcome back, Kay) and this has inspired me to open the book and write on a new page.

I shall wait to see if anyone out there takes the bait and answers me. If this works I shall start publishing once more.

Hope to see some comments.........(Please)

Wahooo! You're back! What a great start to my day, to see you here again.

I've been wondering, of late, how you are. Good to see you back.

Crow:
Thank you for that! It confirms my thoughts and, yes, I shall start up the old jalopy once more.

Tom:
Nice to hear from you and good to be able to have a conversation with old friends. How are you and Lucy and have you made the move?

Hullo Again,

We move into our new house during the first week of July. Really looking forward to it, all three of us.

Tom:
"all three of us"? Is the third member the dog?

Sir Hugh:

As I mentioned in my comment to Robbie, I am a glutton for punishment. In spite of his occasional acerbity, he always makes a cogent point. And he is an interesting correspondent.

Yeah, but... Here was was an opportunity to post something and you blew it. A sort of pathetic hands-together prayer with no substance, as if you were further delaying the moment, waiting for something to happen. And then thinking, no, after all it was only a puncture, and I've written about punctures before. It's got to be something new

Face it, Avus, at your and my age nothing new happens in the physical world. For us the physical world has shrunk to getting up, eating a meal, reading a book, and going to bed. Perhaps if it's a nice day we go for a bike ride, which means that the whole of the winter is bare of writing opportunities.

The mine you need to resort to is between your ears. And I don't mean resurrecting past memories of the physical world, you've probably already used up that stuff. What remains is the abstract world that can can only be reached through opinion, imagination, speculation and animation. For instance - 300 words on why you've delayed a visit to the needle-man. Or a mendacious piece about how you've used the time during the last year that you would previously have devoted to blog posting.

Are these matters too air-fairy for you? Well think of this. Imagine you've been bike-riding alone, you'd like to chat to someone, you enter a pub and order a half. There are people in the pub but you're facing the Englishman's personal view of hell - how to reach out to someone unknown without mentioning the weather. It doesn't matter if you've never done such a thing, write on behalf of other psychologically terrified Englishmen. You are aware of the English condition, use it.

And now please note. I've written enough here for a reasonably sized post. It isn't even about me (actually it is but leave that be for the moment) - theoretically it's a nothing post. Consider the possibility of further nothing posts. Until overtaken by the physical world I'll always be around with further kindly, well-meaning, sympathetic advice.

Welcome back to blogging, Avus. Think of it as populated only by adults; that's a start.

Of course! :) She's a joy.

RR:
Thanks for that comment - you did not let me down! I will try to live up to your exhortations.

Yay. The old gang is back again ... Love that so many welcomed you back. I've fixed my comments too so that people can comment. Let's see if I too receive an exhortation from Sir RR!

Kay:

Good to see you here, too. it was your resurrection of your own blog that spurred me to similar action. Thanks for that.

Welcome back, Avus. That's an interesting though about the backlash against fb resulting in a revival of interest in blogs. I should perhaps write another post in case you're right :-)

Nice to see you here, Pete. I eagerly await your posting!

Well, I have not seen your blog before, but just went to my own blog (where I haven't written since January, and have been scarce for quite a while) thinking about diving in again.....I saw your address in the list of folks who've been visiting my blog and decided to take a peek....so seeing your post here is very encouraging, and I look forward to reading a bit!

Welcome to my "Little Corner" Sheila. I hope you get the inspiration to start blogging again. Too many have the left the blogosphere, which once was thriving, back in the early days of this century (don't that seem yonks ago, when put like that!)

Very very disappointed. A rubber-stamp response to my comment and then nothing. What are you waiting for? How much time do you think you've got left?
