PROBLEMS WITH NEW BLOGGER

I have recently switched to new Blogger (I wish I hadn't). Can anyone tell me why old friends who post comments are now listed as "anonymous"? Is this because they are not signed up to new blogger? (If so and you are one of these, please sign your contribution with your blog name, so I can visit your blog)

Also why do the links to favourites in "my profile" no longer link?

Also I have to put my password in twice before it recognises it.

Also the "remember me on this computer" does not work - although ticked.

Is this the usual case of "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it"? Or "Improvement means deterioration"?

In older posts I had usual commenters appear as 'anon'. Then with new posts all went well. I have now noticed the same non-linking in my profile ( didn't notice before).
I have had to put password in twice sometimes too. I think that depends on if the blog you are commenting on is new or old blogger!

You will prob. get better info from other bloggers...I just plod on!

I haven't switched. I tried a couple times, but ran into problems I didn't know how to solve. For some reason, I always have to do the word verification and password twice.

Avus, they actually gave me no choice, this last time when I signed on to blogger, the ONLY way to get into it, was to sign up to the new version. Now how is that for persuasion? Rather pushy, don't you think. haha.

I had tried a few times back, and they said that my blog couldn't be moved. So I just let it go, I really didn't care to switch, but now that I have, it wasn't to painful. Except now, everytime I post, a window pops up and says, do you want to see the nonsecure items. I really don't care, I just wish I could make the window not pop up..haha

I don't know about the anon thing, but your guess sounds like it might be right....

Thanks for all your comments, folks. I guess we all just soldier on and eventually it will all come right (says he optimistically)

Hi Avus, thank you so much for your comment about Street Art!

Today I changed to a new version of the Blogger! In fact, I was forced by Blogger to did that! Like Nea told, they actually gave me no choice. So, many friend's comment comes as Anonymous. I wrote to a friend of mine and she told me that it happened to all of us. And when the new comments come in they will post with the name, again. And she is right, the comments are OK now. I hope your comments will be Ok too!

Thank you for that Sonia - yes all comments are now OK

I just switched over last night. Wasn't sure I really wanted to. The biggest problem I've had so far was difficulty getting it to post a picture. It seems to have resolved itself though. We shall see.

Thanks for visiting my blog, good to "see" you!

Hitting the links to favorites in "my profile" was an excellent way to peruse blogs (and folks) with similar interests. It's strange - and ridiculous - that Google would drop this functionality.

Plus the Help says "Profile Search isn't currently available (though it will be soon). For now, you can click links when viewing profiles to browse through them." Don't think so.

I'm coming in a bit late here, but... I too have recently switched, when I found I had no option, and am experiencing all the annoyances Avus and others have described above. I suppose we should be passing all this on to Blogger, but I don't feel equal to it myself. I expect others are doing so, so I too shall wait and hope for the best.

Pluses:
I can now upload photos after entering text in the compose window. In the old version it wouldn't upload pix unless the window was empty.

I think labels are great, enabling one to stick a menu of topics in the sidebar, so that readers can group one's posts in themes.

Thanks for visiting DP and J. Things seem to have settled down with my blog now - but still cannot get the sign in page to "remember me on this computer".

I've got it! I think I've got it!! I've finally got the "remember me " cookie to work on Blogger. I looked first in the blogger Help, which said we must enable Java Script and cookies. I have the former enabled, and fiddled about a bit with my privacy settings, but to no avail. Then on someone else's website I found more precise instructions which worked.

When you've opened Internet Explorer, click on Tools in the toolbar, then Internet Options, then the Privacy tab, then the Advanced button. Having got that far you need to tick the box to Override Automatic Cookie Handling. Then tick to Accept First Party Cookies. You can still block Third Party Cookies if you want to. (I had to read about Cookies in Help as well!).

So give it a go, Avus, and let me know if it works. It leaves my security level at Medium, rather than Medium High, but what the heck,I can't be doing with entering my gmail address everytime I want to use Blogger Dashboard.

Thanks for that Judith - it works! I think you should set up your own consultancy!

Good, very gratifying. I am still mystified though as to why my other regular recognition cookies were all working (on Fotothing for instance), but not the new Blogger one.
