MARMITE - THE FACTS
Sorry to those of you who do not live in England or "down - under". I forgot that you may not know what this concoction is. So, especially for Nea, you can find out all the facts here. Its main ingredient is Brewer's yeast from the manufacture of beer (but non-alcoholic). The Guinness variety uses yeast from Guinness manufacture.

A. Thanks for this, great info.
love from a Marmite Nut.x
H: Glad you liked the info - I thought the picture of the little boy was great! I see in the paper today that this Guinness variety has flown off the shelves (and they cannot get the stuff to make any more - at least at present). It is now being sold on eBay at 3 times its retail price and scarcity looks to increase even that!
Very interesting, strange that I had not actually heard of it before, but then I have only had one close friend from your side of the pond, and if she mentioned it, I have long since forgotten. the color reminds me of molasses, which is another very tangy, rather strong thick substance that you either love or hate. But I doubt has any of the same flavor as it is very sweet. I would love to try it, maybe someday. In my travels I often run into specialty shops that cater to Irish/English/etc. I will have to keep on the lookout for some.....
It looks to me like the little boy in the Marmite ad is wearing a Harley Davidson belt.
N: If you tasted some, expecting molasses you would probably be sick! It is very salty and savoury.
V. You are right! I guess only you would have noticed that. The next thing is they will be saying that it is good for cleaning the chrome on Electraglides!
Oooh Marmite - love it!
