I have been getting slightly "stir crazy", not able to get out on two wheels since Christmas. Riding on ice and snow is OK if done carefully, but it is other road users of whom one needs to be in fear. However most roads are now ice-free, so some fresh air called. If nothing else, the image proves that I am not just a fair weather rider (even if my blog's header image suggests otherwise).

Anyone who rides in winter at all deserves the appellation "hard core."
It's always a matter of the other idiot on the road.
Fantastic photo! I can almost smell that sharp winter air.
Love the hat! Can't see which bike it is.
Today it is topping 38 deg here and tomorrow it will be 41 deg.
PLEASE SEND SNOW...

"Hard Core" always seems the precursor to "Pornography" in my mind! (Perhaps it just gives an indication of that mind).
Art..
Yes - certainly it was a sharp afternoon, but what a benificence after being cooped up for days with the central heating!

The hat is a mariner's boating cap which keeps my balding pate warm and the sun (or rain)out of my eyes. The bike is the Dawes Horizon.
I notice you didn't find it necessary to carry a cold drink. I'm not sure about all this photo expansion. Reminds me of an insignificant little chap justifying entry into the Sudetenland by claiming he, and some of his mates, needed Lebensraum.
Love the new look to your blog with beautiful big pictures. Enjoy the snow!

You have rumbled me! Jackboots are on order.
Well, that looks very brrr! I found it hard enough to keep to my two feet in the ice, never mind two wheels.
That's a good photo of you and bike in the filed, but sure makes me shiver just thinking about riding in the cold.
Masthead picture captures the beauty of the land perfectly. Nice view.

Thanks. I had a feeling the masthead image was too large, but it grows on me!
Your new widescreen blog really is magnificent. Please do send me Pete's instructions, I'm very pleased with the changes I've made but am more than happy to improve further. I'm at lucy-dot-kempton-at-wanadoo-dot-fr
Cheers!
Hi, there. Early retirement? How's the SAAB? I was happy with your photos before, too. This is creeping up on taking 45 minutes of dial up time, so I'm off.
That must be a bit tricky riding a bike on snow.......:)
Excellent photo! It has been included in the wordhigh.com Web Buffet, Ark Old State House Museum Links List '10
